From 1979 to 2001, he was founder and CEO of Angus Reid Group, which grew into the largest research firm in Canada, with revenues of $60 million. It was sold to Ipsos SA in 2000. In 2004, Angus became CEO of Vision Critical, a revolutionizing and fast growing online panel company.
Angus has written numerous columns on economic, social and political issues and well as the best-seller; “Shakedown: How the New Economy is Changing our Lives” (1996). He has a B.A. and an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Manitoba, and in 1974 he received a Ph.D. in Sociology from Carleton University in Ottawa.
He is the the recipient of a Canada Council Doctoral Fellowship, the Entrepreneur of the Year award, and was inducted into the Marketing Hall of Legends (2010).
Vice President, Angus Reid Global
Shachi Kurl is Vice President, Angus Reid Global. She brings more than a decade of research, journalism and political experience to ARG, serving as a legislative reporter for CTV Vancouver Island, producer for Global National and contributing columnist for the Vancouver Sun.
She is the recipient of the prestigious Jack Webster award for Best TV Reporting. She has also worked as an advocate for the small business community with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
She holds a degree in Journalism and Political Science from Carleton University. She serves on the boards of the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation and the CKNW Orphans' Fund.
Vice President, Data Analytics
As VP, Data Analysis, Teresa oversees the Data Analytical department, involving data tabulation, Sampling and Feasibility analysis. Teresa has 30+ years of Market Research experience working with projects in Political Polls, Retail Sectors, Financial sectors, Pharmaceutical sectors and Media sectors.
Prior to joining Vision Critical in 2007, Teresa was the Data Manager for Ipsos NA.
Vice President, Public Affairs
Bringing more than 12 years of marketing research intelligence to the Public Affairs practice, Stacey joined Angus Reid Global in 2009 and continues her work with some of the country’s biggest and most exciting organizations. Fluent in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, Stacey specializes in public opinion as it relates to campaign evaluations, messaging, corporate reputation, and brand health with significant experience working in niche areas of media, technology, youth and diversity. Stacey enjoys practicing ashtanga yoga, chasing small children, and drinking great wine – although not usually at the same time.
Director, Public Affairs
Based in the Angus Reid Global Toronto office, Demetre brings over seven years of market research experience to the Public Affairs team. With areas of specialization in the realms of corporate reputation and political polling, Demetre combines a deeply rigorous methodological approach to with a drive to provide targeted and actionable strategic recommendations that directly address client needs. Demetre has extensive experience managing research studies across many diverse industries for national and international clients within the public and private sector. Demetre is a graduate of Queen’s University and is an award winning filmmaker.
As a special consultant to the team, Mag Burns brings over 30 years of research experience to the table. She first joined Angus Reid in the early 1980’s, fresh from completing undergraduate studies at the U of T. Mag spent the next 20 years managing national polling programs and syndicated public policy studies for the Angus Reid Group. After 2000, Mag’s focus migrated to Ipsos-Reid’s international operations, directing a team specialized in offshore data collection. She retired from Ipsos Operations in 2010 as Senior Vice President of Global Research Services. Mag now re-joins the Angus Reid team lending expertise as needed to regular and ad hoc polling endeavours.
Allison Bystrom is a Research Associate with Angus Reid Global. She works on creating, analyzing and reporting on polls about issues that matter to Canadians. Allison studied market research in university but was always more interested in public policy and politics and has now has the ideal job that combines these fields. In her past life she specialized in getting jobs that allowed her to travel, interning in Washington DC and Ghana and working on the Olympics in Vancouver, London and Sochi. Allison has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary.
