The notion of conducting methodologically sound research through mobile phones and smartphones has become an interesting research challenge for the entire industry.
Our research found that a frequent problem with smartphone respondents is that online questionnaires are almost always designed for the traditional desktop Internet experience. Small screens can make reading and responding to a question very difficult due to the amount of scrolling that might be required. However, when done properly, mobile research can be extremely beneficial both for data collection and to engage with respondents who may want to participate in a citizen engagement exercise or a panel at a later date.
For a broader look at these capabilities, please review our presentation: Getting smart about conducting research on smartphones.
